Product Description History has been taught in a boring way for far too long. A subject as moving and powerful as humanity's past should be inviting, and when it is told well, it is. Susan Wise Bauer succeeds in tell

A Nice Addition to the Best World History Curriculum Available September 3, 2008 RC (Alpine, UT) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
These tests are great. They help us better retain what we've learned of names of historic people and places. This curriculum makes history fun and interesting and memorable, especially if you use the accompanying workbooks as well. The whole family can learn world history as well as quite a bit of world geography. And the geography sticks in the brain longer than rote memorized geography because the world history stories help you connect meaning to the maps as well as these tests. They go along with the best World History curriculum available.
Good Review for Story of the World Vol 2 December 29, 2008 Natalie Cooper (Sacramento, CA United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I read the first volume without purchasing the test questions. When I bought the second volume I saw the test book and bought it too. I'm glad I did.
Sometimes when I read a chapter, the boys might drift off a little. Asking the questions from this test workbook lets me know how well they were listening. We can go over the material again or reread a certain section if necessary. We make the test questions into a game and award 100 points for each correct answer. This lets the boys know they should listen because they will be asked some questions after the reading. I think it has really improved their comprehension.

Once again Susan has created a wonderful history book for children. My kids love learning from The Story of the World.

these are interesting and informative but not too much to be tedious so we can look up more on our own if needed..
Interesting for adults too June 20, 2010 BD (New York, N.Y.) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This series got my son interested in history and was informative for the adults too. We need more non-fiction that is accessible to children. I hope it will be the beginning of a genre.
